Alex needs a job, for money, but mainly as a distraction from her life which is pretty horrendous at the moment. Tom’s life is also horrendous, although he thinks he deserves it. He’s her boss (he doesn’t like that word), so when she gives him a phone number to phone if she ever doesn’t show up, he has some questions.
